    This is the first time I've ever had this species on a completely unobstructed perch down low.

    Awesome colors on the bird, and good exposure control on those blacks. I really like the composition too

    Sounds like a rare opportunity, Ryan. Nice colours and soft textures. A little fill flash may have been nice to throw a little light up into the shaded area. Having part of the perch in sun and part shaded is a challenge - may be worth toning down the bright areas of the perch as it tends to drag the eye away from the bird.
