So this is probably a silly question, but when I try and post a photo from my Flickr page, obviously I have to drastically resize the photo. The Flickr photos of mine range from 3 or 4 MB up to 10+ MB. There's an edit feature in Flickr that allows you to resize, but it seems to seriously impact the quality and brings the file size down to 60 kb or so. I know I have up to 200 kb to play with - is there any free software to "resize" my photos? I use Lightroom, btw, but I don't think that software has a resizing feature where I can easily maximize the quality of my postings here (i.e. 200 mb). I'm sure I'm missing something that's obvious. I'd like to start sharing photos here and I want to make sure what I post reflects the quaility (or lack thereof!) of the original photo.
Thanks!
Brian
Quality wise might want to check the images posted in Artie in his bulletin, all are around 45 kb out of necessity and they all are of high quality. Our maximum size is 200 kb There are several tutorials around on how to get the best quality.
btw send me a PM with your name, we all use real names in the forum !! Need any help let me know, always ready !!! btw not a bad internet name :)
And flickr automatically resizes to give you an option of various sizes under the all sizes option!
If you use firefox, you can also rightclick image and click get image location to get url of image.
Ya - I think it's Flickr's "Medium" sizing that seems to work - give me about 100 kb size file. That will probably have to do - I'll give it a shot!

Brian, the 200Kb is a limit if you upload here directly and thereby use the BPN server. If you are just pasting the image url from flickr as vmaidens suggested above(using 'insert image' icon), then that limit does not apply. If I am not mistaken. I paste my photos from photo.net using that method all the time and they are larger than 200KB. But just make sure dimensions-wise the photo is not bigger than 1024 X 800. The flickr sizes will help you in that matter. I dont think this site will prevent pasting URL of a larger-dimensions photo, but it is not encouraged.
