    Default Jumping Quail

Taken the other day while on an Alan Murphy Workshop in Arizona at Bill Forbes' Elephant Head Road Pond. We pre focused on a spot and just fired away. Each time the quail came to the rock , it would climb up and then leap/fly up to a waiting branch. A low percentage shot that creates many throw aways and a few keepers. Great fun with a great teacher and person.

Doesn't sound like an easy technique to successfully utilise, but this one has turned out wonderfully, well done.

Beautifully captured Joe. Is there no end to Alan's creativity with set-ups?
Perhaps a round of NR on the background?

I like it very much, and I think this is a case of exception of the HA rule,
since the bird is moving strongly away from the viewer.
I think I see a small dust bunny in the middle of the frame above the bird.

    Dang that head angel!!!!!!
It could have been a big time winner otherwise.

Excellent image! I liked that the bird is looking up as if it is trying to touch the sky & looking how far it is!! :)

Joe, This is great! I don't know how I missed it. I agree w/ Fabs regarding the head angle. You got some very nice details in the wings.

Fantastic capture. Only wish for a bit more head turn but otherwise a very pleasing capture.
