I finally found a group of baby goslings at a nearby lake this weekend (Mother's Day to be exact!) I have learned over the last couple of years how close I can get without making the parents nervous but it totally surprised me and the 400mm when a few of them came running towards me full speed ahead. I ended up with this quirky half in/half out photo but it's quickly growing on me. Another week and these little cuties will be in the "awkward teenage time" and all this cuteness will be lost for another year.
This is definitely cute Jules. I like your perspective. It looks like they are on the move. You got good eye contact from both of them.
BTW, when I saw your title, it reminded me of what some people say about pugs when they think they are being funny. I'm sure you have heard this: "they are so ugly they're cute". I really hate that! :(
Great catch Julie...they look so velvety in your photo, and very curious. We will soon be overun by these guys at Busch Conservation Area where I work.
Julie, YES, I hear that one ALL the time. Pugs are definitely not ugly - homely, maybe...but not ugly!
Al, we aren't supposed to feed them so I don't. I just plop down about 20 feet in front of them and wait for them to come to me. It's amazing how quickly the parents get comfortable with me around but I still try to stay back - I've seen geese come after people and I don't intend to ever be on the receiving end of that beak!
Danny, we'll be overrun, too. Our lakes and ponds are crawling with these guys and it's gettting to the critical stage - I am wondering if that's why there aren't as many babies around this spring.
