    Default The Jump

Watched this Heron for over a half hour waiting for him to jump with no tripod and a Nikon D300s with attached battery grip and a Sigma 80-400 OS lens so you can get an idea of the weight of the equipment being held to my face so I could that unique shot. Glad I did though because the results are worth every second.

    Nikon D300s
    Sigma 80-400mm 4.5/5.6 OS
    ISO 800
    Shutter Speed 1/2000
    Aperture F-5.6
    Hand held
    Manual Mode.

Thanks for looking- Cory Bucher (AKA the Heron Stalker, LOL)

Hi Cory You did captured a unique shot but were set up a the wrong light angle !! Light was harsh so giving more compensation would have blown the head !!

As presented you can work on the wing to bring out detail but will find lots of noise being introduced and shadows turn mushy looking !!! Would also desaturate !! Looking forward to the next one !! If you wish can post something over at ETL and will give you more feedback and help !!!

What is ETL? I typed in ETL.com and it didn't come to the right place.

Hi, Thanks for the info. Just trying to figure out where the light is harsh? the sun was behind me and almost on the horizon. Sorry to question the comment but would like to know where is this harsh light? Maybe because it is a lot smaller than the original size. I am using it for my desktop background and the light looks spot on to me.

OK, I worked on it some more and got a little more details out on the wings. Sorry for my last post, Photographers are unique with the photos they take and will always defend their work like if it were their own child.
