    Default Crop, or no Crop....

I liked the original because of the full reflection of the bird .....

Then, the majority of viewers stated that there was too much background and not enough bird... So - the crop...

Now I think I' more fond of the crop...... how about some input from some pro's ?? - BTW, 2nd post - this is gonna be interesting......:D

Subject floated by me during a photo hunt at the Hagerman, Idaho Wildlife refuge and hatchery...

    thanks,

    Rick

Hi Rick We only post one photo at a time and a re post of the same for suggested changes ... just keep in mind for the next :)

I much prefer the first one with something of the bottom, has a great feel and like the complementing bg !! The tight crop in this case is just a white pelican with water around it and a strip of grass !!!

First all the way and would even have liked seeing a little more of the top !!.. btw wish you would have been in sun angle to avoid the shadow from head/neck .. would also work on the eye for making it more visible !!

Hi Rick, good advice from Al. Would only add that in the cropped version you left too little space on the left between the pelican's tail and the frame, IMO.

Hi Rick, I thought the original had to much room below and since the reflection is weak a good crop form below would be my choice too. Only difference is that I like the habitat at top and left it there. Here is a more "pano" option for your image.

BTW Al's light angle comment is right on...this is what hurts your image most...perhaps a bit of TLC would help, but nothing like getting it right in-camera:cool:

The repost by Dan looks a lot better. A very nice image!
