Al, very cool, works for me. Amazing shot qith the 100-400mm. Would have been very special to have the full wings! Congrats, boy i bet that Head-Squeeze hurt! Very cool behavior showing the true nastiness!

Hi Don All the ones with full wings do not show a good/pleasing position, think I have fourteen in the series !!

Never sell that 100-400 short :) I know it has a bad reputation and lots of people feel is incapable of making sharp images/fast af but I just keep making them and laughing about it !!! Possible my most use and favorite lens Canon makes !!! Will even be sharp with a 1.4 converter !!!

Canon should be updating that lens at some time but still selling so many might take a while. One thing I would love seeing changed is the close/far focus setting, its right by the camera and impossible to switch while using the way the lens in normally held.

If you have not used one might want to rent one and check it out for yourself ... great performer !!!!

Thanks Al for your extra info on the 100-400 zoom lens, I also have red a ton about it and I'm not quite convinced..., but after seen your image I think: ''well, may be is just human error what is causing the bad pictures'', this is great stuff and love those birds fighting in the air, must have been a thrill!

The manner of crop in the image IMO is fine. The viewer becomes zeroed in on the action which is enhanced by the closer view. I like the open beak and the appearance of the other getting bit. The light waterdrops also add to the action.
Exposure is well handled along with enough sharpness to carry the image...Great action!!

Great behavior shot. Looks like the one on the left is going to swallow the other's head.
I may go up there this coming weekend, unless eaglets started to learn how to fly.

    Alfred,

Greetings. Great action shot! I like the close crop... the action is the focus.

    Cheers,

    hi Al

Amazing action capture. the clipped wings does not detract because the focus is on the interaction and in fact wings lead to the center of the image. the droplets of water add to the action. I wonder about a tad more room on the bottom

Great action capture Al....love the intense eye of the Ring Billed Gull and the feather detail on the victim who I am sure had a headache
