Yes, I can see why you love it. Looks like a really moody place.
I would love to be there when the snow is falling.

Very nice feel to it and I really like the splash of colours on the reeds/grass.

    Boardwalk looks neat too.

Wonderful mood of desolation and foreboding you've capture here, Al. Looks like a place Norman Bates would choose to sink the 1957 Ford with its grisly cargo in the trunk.

Talk about visual impact - great shot.

Al, I bet this is your first "Norman Bates" reference - :D.

Hi Al, what a lovely image!! I find the fog (?) in the BG and the small green/brown mounds at right especially appealing.

BTW, was there vacancy at the Bates Motel?

As many stated mood is the dominant element which emits some emotion.
What I like compositionally is the diagonal foreground taking you to the walkway which in turn leads you to the rear of the image.
Good crop on the sky just showing enough of the fog to represent it but not overdone. Well handled!!

Thanks, Dave, for pointing out the compositional elements. I had noticed the walkway as a compositional element, but had missed the foreground diagonal and its connection to the walkway. Now it seems even lovelier to me!

After staring at this nice image some more, I tried setting off that plume of steam in the center background, and slightly
lightening parts of the middle- and foreground. Tried to preserve the dark, dismal mood that really makes this image. The sky
at left may be a bit too bright for that mood. I'm not sure.

I can't believe how a few subtle changes can take an already great image to the next level. Thanks for the "tutorial," Dave. Man, am I getting my money's worth at BPN!!!!!
