This image was taken at Ding Darling NWR last year, of a pelican taking flight after a colorful night! The image is tight for sizing of the subject, which unfortunately was flying away from me, rather than into my tripod! ;)
Modifications in CS4 included; Find Edges, Brightness & Contrast and Hue & Saturation adjustment.
For your information, if you wish to try the custom frames. I think I solved the custom frame issue … hopefully :o … I use a 3” wide by the length desired. The image will be placed over the frame, so it can be adjusted to the desired width for the frame effect desired. I found that while the dimensions of the frame sides (length) are not critical, they should be about ½ to 1” longer, on the long side, than the image dimension. The issue comes up in that you have to cut the miters after dimensioning the piece for the side. For this reason, I cut two sides and then copy them for the other to similar sides, flipping the pieces. If you miter before and then redimension the piece the angle will change, thus preventing a good fit. Even a small adjustment in length might affect the angle. This frame is from a Palm tree trunk.
I also suggest that you crop the original material from an area of the trunk, with consistent tone and color. Avoid shadows and dark markings.
Mark, I'm glad you got the custom frame thing worked out. This feels a bit tight in the frame to me. I feel like the frame is competing with the image a bit too much also. I do like the sketched colors of the Pelican and think that you did a nice job w/ the filters.
Hi Mark,
I agree that this feels a little tight in the frame. I also find the BG colour a little heavy. I do like the introduction of the colours on the bird.
Best,
