    Thought I'd post this since it is the first Wurdemann's heron I've photographed. This bird is nesting among hundreds of great white egrets, so it was a treat to find it. This was shot in the Everglades, from my canoe.
    Sony a700, 70-400mm
    ISO200, f5.6, 1/800
    Some cropping, and removal of a twig near the head. Now that I see it posted, I think it could use some seletive sharpening near the eye and beak.

    Glad you were able to make this image, first time I've seen one. I like the habitat and pose, and agree it could use a bit more shapening.

    Hi Connie ,

    this is a nice looking picture,sharp en a nice background.The only thing that I cold say negative about this picture is the white on the head......I't looks too me A little blown out. ( read no stucture in the white feathers.

    Hi Connie, What a wonderful find I have been wanting to see one of these guys for a while. I pulled the image into PS and the whites were a little hot reading with values around 253-254.

    Great find, I've never seen one of these. Another vote for more sharpening and toning down the whites a tad.
