This image was taken this year at Merritt Island NWR of a Gator signaling the tourist to back off. I had come across him in a familiar location and was ready to take his photo from our “car blind” when a group of about 10 others came to see him. They were standing between him and me and, as they had P&S cameras, were trying to move closer to get in for a very close shot. He slowly lowered his tail and then his head and just before going under, vibrated the water in a threatening fashion. I got this shot, before he submerged. Thought it would be interesting as a B&W sketch and it was.
Modifications in CS4 included; Invert, Find Edges, B&W, Crosshatch and Brightness & Contrast adjustment.
Hi Mark, I like this composition very much. I think the black bg and white sketch lines makes this very effective and interesting. Nicely positioned within the frame. TFS.
Thanks Indranil & Denise for viewing and comments.
He was very moody, at the time of the exposure, as noted! The "amateurs" were inside his comfort zone  and he decided to just grunt and not challenge them. He was about an 8 footer, so I would prefer to step back! :o
Very nice look and mood, Mark. I certainly wouldn't want to mess with him! I think lightening the whites just a tad might make it even more dramatic looking, but that's just my opinion. Your vision may be different. ;)
I did look at more white, but like the effect of the darker image. As Denise noted, it is more moody and fits the event, in my view. But I appreciate your comment, as an image maybe the white highlighted would be more popular with others.
