They have arrived here in south central PA. I have been trying out a Canon 7D, this is a grab shot from yesterday taken just before last light. So far I am pretty impressed with the Canon 7D. Processed using Lightroom Beta 3.2, and CS4.
Canon 7D, Canon 500 4L IS w/ 1.4 TC, 700mm, ISO 3200, EV +1/3, 1/125 @ f8, Natural Light, Full Frame.
Nicely exposed, with good detail for ISO 3200.
Sharp
Generally I don't like a perch where one branch runs in front of the bird, but the scale is delicate enough here, and because the bird is parallel to the sensor plane, it works pretty well.
I might be tempted to crop back just the very top of the frame to get rid of some of the clutter.
Thanks for the critique. I agree, normally I don't like a branch in front of the bird either, had it been any further forward, I would have deleted it. This was my first opportunity to shoot at ISO 3200, and I am pretty happy witht he result. Looks like the 7D will be a keeper.
