I was working on some images I took at Powell Gardens earlier today and I just happened to look out my window and saw a pair of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks come in to eat a quick bite at my feeders. These birds migrate through Missouri each year but I've only seen one a few years back so seeing a pair was a real treat tonight!
To keep from scaring them off I took the images through my (dirty) glass door - it's amazing what Photoshop and Viveza can do when you need 'em to!

Fabs, according to my Sibley Guide to Birds book, it looks like these are both males. Now I'm going to have to keep my eyes open tomorrow to see if the females are around.
Great to have two males together. Usually, the 'owner' of the territory chases other male birds away as soon as the other one starts to sing. Maybe you get lucky and they stay. In MA I had a nesting pair every year.
