I am on vacation this week and I have been terrorizing all the flower nurseries stocking up on plants for the back deck. One of my favorites from yesterday's finds was this pretty petunia plant. I went out this morning to take some photos and this fly was waiting out the soft breeze on the crest of one of the petunia "waves". I really wish that front petal would have been more in focus but I was hurridly trying to get the image before the fly flew. :D
Canon 40D, EF 100mm f/2.8 macro
f5 @ 1/125th, ISO 200
Manual mode, Daylight WB, pattern metering
Processed in ACR & CS4; small cloning over flower imperfections & small shadow; large crop, sharpening
Super colours and a very pleasing composition, I would have tried f8 -f11 to give a little more DOF on the fly (and perhaps the petal you referred to).
