    Default Image advice please.

I posted this image in the "Avian Wild and Free" forum, but on consideration I would like to post here for more directed advice.

(Is it OK to post the same image in more than one forum?)

Is the image screwed up in the major parameters.
Over sharpened, too contrasty, too saturated, too dark or bright , and how can I recognize it?
    Also what are compression artifacts?

    Thanks

Not an easy one Harold !!! If you had the original would be a different story !!!

Gary the pose and bg look just fine Really nice You are a bit off angle on the beak The main problem I see with the image is post processing More than anything else over sharpening Thats why Harold had to put on the brakes Would go back to the original and sharpen again Remember to sharpen at the final resolution If you sharpen and then reduce the size strange things will happen to your image !!!

    Thanks harold and Alfred

Here's a rework of the original TIFF file with minimal processing. Any better?

The repost is much better. It looks so much more natural. Sharpening is a little like seasoning.....too much for some and too little for others. I think it's more noticeable over sharpened when the image is a closeup like this. I go through spells where I do more sharpening and then I swing the other way to less. This looks nice.

hi gary. that's much better, but i think still a little too bright. i worked on the bird a bit. i had to establish several color control points on the bird, two on his chest and one on his beek. just a slight tweek down. hope you like it. i think it brings out a tad more detail.

    Gary,

That's the ticket! You were much less heavy handed on the repost and I like harolds repost as well. Your repost is much better than the one you posted in Avian, the sharpening looks much more natural.. nice save!! ;)
