This past Saturday morning brought the terns back to Massachusetts.
At dawn I heard one high overhead and by 7:30 there were thousands, both settling in for the summer and resting on their migration north. It always gives me goosebumps when I'm here.all alone on the beach to witness the day tehse birds arrive in the spring or the day which they depart in the fall. You need to pay attention to a lot of variables to be there at these times.
I liked this particular image as it shows a dorsal view with a decent wing and tail spread. I was positioned sitting on the beach, roughly 3' above the surface of the water on a slight rise and the tern was gliding in across the water in front of me.
Nikon D300s, 600VR, TC14EII, ISO 640, f 7.1, 1/2000, cw metering, nearuniwb preset, +.7 EV applied.
Nicely done Jim. I love the subtle streaks in the BG. I also like the overall "cool" feel to the image. Sounds like it was quite a show Mother Nature gave you that morning!
I love the dorsal view and the spread tail. Good sharpness and eye contact.
I would straighten the image CCW to match the lines in the water.
Maybe a tad more Sat and contrast.
Simply beautiful Jim Love the composition and the lovely flight pose. Good eye contact too which is always a bit of a challenge with these birds. Well done !!!
