Default What Are You Looking At!!?

taken yesterday morning on the rocking boat! kinda got lucky with this one. i clipped the bottom so i went ahead and chopped the top for effect. work for you or not?

D300, 120-400 (this lens is a jewel!!) at 300mm, f/5.6, 1/2500s, ISO 400, manual. if i had stopped down for this one, it would not have been as sharp at the close distance to the subject. i lightened the underside of the bird and the bird's left eye because of the shade issue. wished it had more natural light on it!!!!!!:(

thanks for looking. comments much appreciated.

    Hi Harold,
I really like this one. The cropped off wings don't bother me with this image because the eyes, open beak and fanned tail look great. Nice detail on the underwings.

    Harold great details...

That's a mean look on that bird if he is ready to attack

Hi Harold, I feel this one works well. Good light, detail and exposure being right on. I look at this as being a closeup of a flying Osprey which works for me. One is drawn to the eyes and the open beak. The uncut fanned tail is another plus....

Nailed it Harold - love the pose and the in your face composition - the eye contact could be any better. Fanned out tail is a added bonus - he was really talking to you.
    Winner in my books :)

I like it, the expression on the bird makes it a winner.
You guys must have been very close. I find it very hard shooting from the boat.

Great details and light, Harold ! Great eye contact. The open-beak adds to it. Clipped wings ?....:) It's just me ;) But like your way of handling the problem.

Great capture Harold....eye contact and feather details are terrific. How did they paint this plane at the air show to look like an Osprey at Blue Cypress Lake? :D
