    Default Moorhen in the Grass

    Hey Guys,

Picture of a Moorhen that was hiding in the grass at the local lake a couple of days ago, I am quite pleased with the blacks that I managed to keep on this one. Was taken on 70-300 @ 300mm wide open so was very pleased with the sharpness. I have cloned out a few dandilions as i felt they distracted from the eye bright yellow against the green.

I was a little conservative with the crop as i liked to show its setting, hidden up in the grass

C&C is greatly recieved as always, hopefully getting better!

Hi Peter Unusual pose for a moorhen and does look like a hen in this one :) image is sharp and well exposed, did well with the shadows and kept the highlights reasonable !! Good light angle !!

PS wise would lower saturation on the grass, looks way over !! Could also select the eye area and lighten a bit more, I think you can get a perfect eye out of this one !!! Crop wise I like showing a little extra since bg is pleasing but would take a some form the oof bottom !!! Did well on this one !!!

yeh i think i did go a little OTT with the grass, will revisit it. I think its one worth a little more experimentation then I have done so far.

My PS skills and techniques could do with alot of improvement!

Hi Peter we all can :) btw I also will post images that look absolutely perfect to me and in part because I like the image ... but keeps me from seeing things that I should until they are pointed out to me !!! .. btw can also run some noise reduction, I use Noiseware pro and does a fine job without affecting the sharpening.

Hi Peter, Good points by Al. Another idea is not only to crop from the bottom but to also crop just below the upper leaf. This will give a pano look which to my eye is pleasing. Nice exposure and detail...

Very nice, Peter. I agree with crop of the bottom and desaturating the green grass. Very sharp, gfreat detail, well done on the blacks.

Lots of details on your subject. Agree on the grass being saturated, but love the blurred foreground. Wolud crop from the top as suggested by Dave.
    Congrats

Hi peter - agree with all of the great advice above - personally i would also try some CW rotation - might just be me but just feels like it is falling down to the left.
    :)
