    Default Green Heron Nestlings

I have been camping out by this Green Heron nest in Wakodahatchee for the past few days observing the Mama Heron and her little ones - 2 were hatched on Wednesday, the other on Thursday. This afternoon, Mama got off the nest for a short while and I was able to get a few images. It is a very difficult spot and angle but here it is, for better or for worse as the little ones never stay still and are continually in motion.

Nice shot, wish I could get something like this.
Another round of Noise Reduction would be good. Love the open beak.

Hi Milt - love the kids - the open beak and interaction makes this for me.
Ha's dont bother me here at all - would run some NR on the background.
    Like it - well done.

Fascinating !!! Love the colors of the chicks, stubby wing. Love it that one is open beak, and what an open beak it is!!! Really nice. Only minor nit is crop is maybe, perhaps, a bit tight.

Hi Milt, Very difficult to have these guys cooperate fully but you've taken a good representation of the subjects. I like the open beak and luckily one can see the eye of the middle bird. I too would like a bit more room on the bottom and agree about the NR...

Hi Milt, I'm glad you posted this image (and thanks for sharing it with me in your camera's LCD yesterday at Wako). The expression of the open-mouthed chick makes the image for me. TFS.

Hope to see you again soon,

    Ricardo

Milt, was this image sharpened? If so, next time I would try to selectively sharpen only the subjects. It appears the background was sharpened as well, resulting in more artifacts that you would normally have. Regardless, another round or two of NR is in order.

This is a first time image for me, thanks for posting these little guys!

Excellent image Milt I do like the angle and well you isolated the nest, these are difficult and produce few keepers Excellent !!!

Would keep working the nest to come up with three perfect head positions, its frustrating but rewarding!!! :)

At first I was using matrix metering but was dissatisfied so I switched to spot metering, using the chicks as a reference.

Beautiful capture Milt. Saw the nest a few weeks ago while at Wako but one of the parents was always sitting. Congrats

Great capture Milt! Just love it. Techs have been covered, just wanted to mention that I love the expression on the chick on the left. Seems to be thinking "man, I wish he would be quiet...". :)
