    Default Northern Rough-winged Swallow

I went to a local lake this morning and hoped to find Purple Martins but they were not around. Since I never got a chance to photograph Rough-winged Swallows I was not too disappointed. :)

Lovely. Nice perch, BG, and vertical comp. Set-up?

Thanks, Aidan! No, the swallow chose this branch on its own.

Thanks. I have yet to photograph a swallow on a decent perch.

An interesting looking swallow, and skillfully captured. I'm not liking the perch, it seems to compete with the bird's warm tones.

This guy sure chose a nice perch for you. Perfect BG. The vertical comp was the way to go.

The pose, perch and pleasing background gradient are quite nice. This species spends a lot of time in flight; finding one on such a nice perch is a great opportunity. Nicely done.

Beautiful image and swallow Axel. The BG is killer as is the pose. I wish the beak was more in focus and the perch a bit darker.

    Axel,

What a fantastic moment to have this species land on such a perfect perch. They nest under bridges and in other inaccessible places, so aside from during nest building, they are a serious pain to photograph at rest. I give you major props for this one.

Exposure is perfect, the background is outstanding, and the bird is nice and sharp. Great great job.

    Axel:

Nicely exposed, I like the perch, esp. the green that pulls in the BG colors somewhat. Birds pose very nice.
Love the display of the delicate feet.

    Cheers
