    Default Coppersmith yet again!

    Ok, I saw the kid!

    D5000, Nikon 70-300VR @ 300mm, F/5.6 1/160s, matrix+1 ISO400

I can't use too high ISOs if I have to crop much... (Dunno why this should be, D5000 has the same sensor as D300S, but if i go over 500, I get washed out sploches and less detail, Any idea on what is wrong? high ISO NR shouldn't be active here...)

Thanks! I really feel blessed to have them nesting a few meters from my parents bedroom window, and have been following them from long... So it was like having a new member in the family when the little one came along.. :)

I like the bird in the hole peaking out and that you can see it's eye. I find the head angle and open beak of the other bird engaging. If this were mine I would try and bring out more detail in the dark feather on the birds head and back by lightening those areas. I would also lighten the hole/cavity and birds head. Lightening the eye(s) some might also worth a effort. Lots of nice detail. In my opinion the angle of the tree adds to the composition. An enjoyable image; thanks for sharing.

Thanks Phil, there's not much detail in the blacks, only noise :( This is a significant crop... abt. 1/2 as many pixels as original... so noise is a worry. but I'll try lightening the eyes.

What a wonderful capture! I have that very lens and it's great to see what it can do in the right hands!

I think this is an exceptional shot. Lots of emotion. I like the mouth position of the outside bird. Very nice.
