Finally had a couple of hours to head out somewhere other than my yard! Heraded out to a local marshy area, and got myself an alright image of a Swamp Sparrow. Audio used to lure it onto this natural perch. Sponge tool used to enhance BG colours.

Canon 40D + 100-400L @ 390mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/6.3, ISO 640, +1.3 EC, natural light, handheld, just about full-frame (a sliver taken off left and top to strenghten comp).

Lovely Daniel! The BG and glance-back are great. There is nothing really wrong with this image, but I feel that the perch could be improved upon.

    Looking forward to more!

Hi Daniel, It is good to get away from the back yard at times.

I like the head angle, eye contact and BKGR on this image. The overall tonal range is very complimentary.
I would have liked a little more DOF to get the tail a little sharper, but understand at 1/200 why you didn't close it down any further.

Good find, BG and look-back pose. Sharpness looks good, too. I might lower the color temperature a tad.

    Daniel:

Sharp, well exposed, nice work on BG, like the comp.
Perch a bit large, but its weathered nature helps.

I could see it about 1/3 brighter.

    Cheers
