    Default Swallow in flight

    Attached Images Attached Images

Hi all, I took this image this morning across open fields a couple of hours after sunrise.

It is quite a crop from a 700mm lens combination, but with a little work in the computer I think this image is sharp enough to present. It is my first image of a Swallow in flight, all others images I have are of stationary Swallows, typically on fence posts or fence wire.

C&C most welcome, especially in regard to whether this image is acceptably sharp or otherwise.

    Canon 1DMK4, 500mm+1.4x, f6.3, 1/1600, ISO800.

    Cheers

Hey Austin, looks like you have better weather, thunder, lightening, fat rain down South, should have stayed up in Yorkshire. :)

Looks good at this size, not sure if you were to project it? BIF, especially Swallows are not the easiest to capture, congrats on that. Might just want to bump the sat up a fraction and +8 brightness, looks as if it can take it. BG is pot on, top marks. Like it.

It looks sharp where it counts. The flight pose and the background look great.
I haven't attempted to shoot this bird in flight yet, but your work is an inspiration to me in this regard, Austin.

Focus and details look very good to me.
I really like pose, particularly the tail.

Although the HA and wing positions are perfect, my favorite part of the image is the tail...way cool! Gorgeous BG. As posted it is acceptably sharp.

Very cool pose! Love that twisted tail. Good sharpness on a tough subject made all the more challenging by a varied BG. Hand held or supported?

A real beauty Austin. Love the flight pose. detail and eye contact. Especially like the flared tail feathers and killer BG. Love it and many thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Much appreciated.

Hi Doug, This was taken from my vehicle, sunroof fully open and the lens resting on a beanbag on the roof. So pretty well supported, but no head or tripod was used today.

    Cheers

Pose and eye contact are very cool. I might sharpen a tad more.

Excellent image, Austin, beautiful colours in bird and BG. The angle of the tail really makes it stand out - you have really caught the 'character' of this bird.
