    Default Rufous-necked Wood-Rail

From Doug Brown's Costa Rica workshop: Our boat captain became extremely excited when he spotted this bird walking just behind the vegetation along the shoreline. It seems that finding a Rufous-necked Wood-Rail is a rare event and getting a photograph is even rarer. I saw the bird through the vegetation and was lucky enough to be able to get two images as it passed by tangled openings along the shore. I cropped this image just a bit for composition, adjusted levels, curves, s/h and sharpening, only.

Nice to see and even better to photograph. I can only imagine how hard a species like this must be!
