    Default Eye Contact

Thanks for all of the tips on my last Osprey shot...they really help me decide how to work up images. I've always thought that eye contact is a main part of a lot of wildlife pictures, especially with the avian shots. It sort of tells me that my subject knows that I am looking at it when I review my images.

I spent this morning taking more Osprey photos and I worked on positioning myself in just the right places and was pleased with the results. I noticed a good amount of my images have the Osprey staring me down. Here's one I kind of like just because of the position of the wings. The head and feet are visible...so is the image acceptable with the way the Osprey is positioned? Any help would be appreciated.

Neat shot. I like the head on view peeking out of the wings. Nice underwing detail too.

Don't see this pose very much! Nice! The eye contact certainly draws me in! You were definitely getting stared down.

I would like to see something other than plain blue sky in the background. Not sure why you were shooting at 1/6400 at ISO 400, but like they say, ISO 400 is the new ISO 100, so what the heck. :) Exposure nicely controlled and very sharp. Thanks for sharing!

    Matt:

Very effective shot. Sharp, well exposed, interesting peekaboo pose, shows top of wing and underwing detail all in one shot. Nice stare.

I agree that a more interesting background would help, but the image is strong enough to stand as is.

    Cheers

Hi Matt... looks like great sharpness, and I think those awesome eyes pop even better with the background not being busy. I like the wing position too, and the talons just being seen below.

There was a perch under the crop and the Osprey was in the get up and go mode. About the speed of the shot...would it be better to have a lower ISO for less grain purposes? Thanks for the comments and help.
