    I went out this morning looking for avocets but ended up with this picture of a killdeer. I cropped, sharpened and tweaked the image minimally in LR2. I decided not to run NR and not to remove the large spots in the background, both of which may have improved the image. I think i got the whites and blacks ok. Comments welcomed . . .

    Hi Wendell,

    Good to see that you are getting right down to bird level now and it makes a big difference to your composition and background. Those bright bits in the background can be covered up easily enough.

    Whites are a little too bright, but you should be able to recover those a little more in LR.
