This Savuti Ele took time out for some playtime in one of the many waterholes in the area.
Made the best of what was still fairly harsh light.

Hi Marc Did real well with the harsh light, managed some detail in the shadows Great situation but difficult to come up with something special !!
I like the tight crop but would like a little more room at the bottom, just show some water ... splashing is great .. glad you lowered the shutter speed so the water doesn't look frozen !!!
You did a good job with available lighting conditions. Agree with Al on a little more room below if you have it. I opened up the shadows a little more, see what you think. TFS

Hi Marc
Main points already covered, however here are a few more :)
- I prefer your OP, however Todd has shown there is more detail to get out of the image, but Todd's has gone more blue, so be careful
- I might also crop half of the space on the lhs making it slightly tighter to frame the head turn
- Also a fraction more USM on the Eli say 70,0.03,0 guess maybe more or less on the first number?
Which Savuti camp where you at, the wooden log lookout by the water hole or Savuti Elephant camp?

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
Nice shot Marc. Almost feel like ducking to get out of the way of that swinging trunk and spraying water.
Thanks Steve
This was why I didn't want to open up the shadows too much, also that it started to look too monochromatic, not that there's anything wrong with that heh Morkel!:D
This was also F/F, one limitation with the prime here.
We were with Ewan Masson's mobile camping but had encountered breakdown problems with the support vehicle
and were given complimentary lodging for 2 nights at the very nice Desert & Delta Lodge. ;)
Cheers

Hi Marc, I think you captured the action here nicely, and what drew me to the image was the way the circle shape of the trunk was completed by the water....That made it a powerful shot for me.
