    G'day everyone,

I thought I'ld have another go at doing a portrait shot.

Compared to my last Duck portrait, I've included more room around the head.

    Canon 400D 300mm F4 L + 1.4TC, ISO200, F5.6, 1/200, AV priority, Evaluative metering.
PP: Cropped approx 40%, USM, SH adjust, NR on BG.

Razor sharp and great detail for a large crop. I still might like a little more room to the right. Not the most attractive subject I've seen. :)

Hi Mark Would crop tighter on the left to the area neck is turning !!! ... will make the right look better proportioned Sharp and well exposed and I think a handsome bird ... what are you talking about Colin :D PS wise would try smoothing the lines on top of head in bg, keep getting drawn to the area.

dof wise stopping down will not make a huge difference but is always good to try if the bg is far away enough !! Do like it a lot !!

Thanks Alfred, I'll try a repost tonight with the suggestions.

@ Colin, I'm with you mate! There's a reason why when you see pictures of common birds in Australia you generally dont seen ones of this bird! ;)
They used to hunt and eat these birds last century. Every now and again you'll bump into an old bloke who'll tell you all about them, and then he'll finish with 'And they're not a bad tasting bird either'!

Good comments by Al. I love the sharpness on the beak to eye.
