does this work, or is there a better way to capture an actual moment, true the nest clutter is an eye sore, but this is a natural habitat shoot! CC are welcome...

I'm wondering about a verical crop including the adults leg. It would deemphasize the nest clutter, dismiss the chick's problem outstretched wing and take out the green foilage in the lower right.
I like it. The nest, the expression, and the wing. This is it's habitat. Everything is well exposed and sharp, the detail in the whites is nice. Like above, I might crop a little more off the bottom to get rid of the OOF green.

I don't mind the cluttered look of the image as this is how they build their nests! For me it's the harsh light that negatively impacts the image the most. Do you have access to this site at better times of the day? Scott's crop idea might work too (crop about halfway down the chick's wing).
