This one is really simple - would like everyone to comment.

Does this image work for you or not?? No right or wrong answer - just what YOU feel.

Give reasons why it works or doesn't work for you.

Dont hold back - you wont hurt my feelings!! - If you think its trash say so and say why.

Looking forward to lots of comments :)

Lance, sorry to say it does not work for me. I think the grass is uninteresting, but the sky reflected in the water has something going for it. Maybe you could have shown more water and reflections and found a foreground element in the water?

No. I can't find a subject, it does not involve me intellectually nor emotionally.
Furthermore, the clouds have a funny horizontal slicing pattern to them that puzzles me.
And it needs sharpening ( :) just kidding about sharpening)

    Lance,

Greetings. For having a number of good compositional features, good color contrast in complementary orange-blue and green blue, strong middle diagonal, texture contrast... for my taste, there isn't a strong enough feature (subject, structure, texture) to keep my interest.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

    Honestly ? No. :)

Give reasons why it works or doesn't work for you.
Too small an angle of view.

    Disappointing so far :(
    (Same ol people commenting.)

Doesn't work for me either - but that wasn't the point - wanted to try and give a safe option and encourage people to comment - if you are posting images on a regular basis - take a little time every now and again to comment on other peoples images - it helps you as much if not more than the person whose image you comment on. Why - because you have no emotional attachment to the image. No better and faster way to learn and after all this IS "Eager to learn" :)

I could not have made this one much easier to comment on

The image isn't my thing. I don't get abstract art at all, sorry Lance. I'm used to having a bird, or insect or something to draw my attention but there's nothing there.
Perhaps if you PS'ed a stalking Heron into the image then it would be a different story! ;)

Hi Harold - just wanted to see if people would jump in and say - it didn't work for them - pretty safe option.
    Maybe some more will.

I have many shots similar to this - they are the shots I take to check my exposure before the subject arrives - just that too often the subject never arrives:D

    Hi Lance,

Doesnt work for me, I feel there is a lack of direction, there is no focal point of attention. You have a bold bank of grass which leads the eye to the right into the reflection. If there was a more bold reflection (say of a bird or a building etc) then it could work for me

    Lance:

Sadly, this doesn't work for me either. It lacks a central element that would generate my interest.:)

Beyond that, I also don't like the juxtaposition of the rich green grass and the pale, pastels of the water. Although this is a relatively minor point, I've enriched the water in this re-post by selecting it and using the brightness and saturation controls of Viveza 2.

By making this change, I'm regarding this image as an abstract work, and not as a glimpse at reality. Does that do anything for anyone?

Ok, I'll bite... I find it neither abstract nor concrete and the grass doesn't relate to the reflection at all. For my taste, the cloud reflections without any grass would have been quite nice, or if the grass line were horizontal and there was a horizon line to compliment it then I would relate differently. As it is, I'm not diggin' it! ;)
