Hi Julie, Great first effort! The bird appears to be sharp with good detail. The pano crop works well here but agree with Harold that the backround is a bit distracting. Too bad the backround wasn't farther away from the subject then it would have been more blurred...

Hi Julie - congrats on your first BIF effort - lots to like here as mentioned above - nailed the focus - BIF is just practise practise practise. Get that AF onto the bird - activate the AF and pan with the subject - sounds easy doesn't it - iF only ;)
A little more separation between the bird and the BG would have negated the busy BG a little.
    Keep em coming :)

Thanks Harold, Dave, and Lance for the encouragement. I will definitely keep practicing at this.

How can I get more separation between the bird and the BG without more focal length-will using f5.6 make a difference here? I desaturated the greens for the repost and added a post-crop vignette.

Hi Julie, Yes, 5.6 would have some effect on the bkrnd. In this case I'm not sure if it will mean very much. The key is how close the backround is to the subject. The further away the less distracting the backround will be...
