Nice wing position and colors! It does seem soft, and the background is a bit distracting.

    Good first post!

Hi Dan - big warm welcome - do not hesitate to jump right in and leave comments on other peoples images - all we ask is that you say what you like or dont like about the image - no better way to learn or faster for that matter.
Image does appear a tad on the soft side - I would bump that ISO up a bit - the 7D can handle it - will give you a faster shutter speed - freezing the action and hopefully improving on the sharpness. Looks to be lacking in fine detail as well - any noise reduction used??
Do like the pose and wing position - head is clear of the wings which is good.

Might be worth posting the original with no changes - just converted from Raw.

Hi Dan, I too bid you welcome! Agree with both Lance's and Colin's comments. When shooting moving birds it's important to push your cameras ISO up to it's max without getting noise as Lance recommended. We could always use more speed.

Thank you for tips, much appreciated. 3 of these guys flew in while I was trying to get some shots
of an ossprey in a tree. They were fighting with each other and moving quickly, got excited and
forgot to check my settings. Just getting into PS4, not sure how to do sharpning or NR yet. wil post
original. Agree with all comments. Just heading out for BIF workshop post when xI get back..

Hi Dan Big Warm Welcome !!!! Great first post !!!

Agree with comments and can add there is another way to shoot these flapping guys ... maybe go the other way and lower your shutter speed :) I find the in between a problem Going with a high or low shutter speeds works better. With lower you get a good blur.

I like how you got the camera on a tripod, easy to just handhold but lots of magnification !!!
