The old name for these guys was Blacksmith Plover. Very erratic flyers, but I was happy with this. Taken late afternoon on Christmas eve last year at a birding spot in Cape Town.

Track sharp and nice eye contact, detail in the blacks. For me it is a pity that the shadow crosses the wing. Thank you for sharing.

Good job, Stuart. Nice and sharp and in just the right zone of the fly by. BG looks good. Did you do a BG blur in post ? The toes seem a little blurred so if due to blurring the BG may be worth just adjusting the masking a little.

A very nice flight shot Stuart.
Very good timing both for the wing position and relative location of the bird.

Really well done on exposure on a black and white bird.

Cool capture, I like the sharpness, eye contact and BG and only wish the wings were all the way up and more evenly lit this way.

    Hi Stuart,
I also like the deep color of the BG. Details look good. Subjective, but I might lighten just a tiny bit for a touch more detail in the darker bits.

The colour of the bg is stunning! Wonderful image Stu with superb sharpness and great detail. The bird pops against the bg - very striking.:)

Amazingly sharp eye makes this image. Nice wing pose.
I find the underwing a bit noisy.
