Hi Ricardo, Love the twirling head along with flying water drops. A similar image posted here had a twirling head but most of the bird was sharp(if my memory is correct) which appealed to me more. I would take some off the top...
Hi Ricardo - agree with Dave here - like the idea - but we were spoilt by another image with the body tack sharp.
So - shutter speed to slow.... The D3S --- Bump that ISO - I start at 800ISO with that camera and move on from there - would have gone to 3200 in a heartbeat.
As mentioned the water drops do add the image.
Looking forward to seeing more :)
Thanks, Dave, Peter, and Lance. In my thinking, the blurry body was consistent with the spinning head so it didn't bother me, but it looks like I was wrong. Also, I purposely left more than the optimal space on top to keep most of the flying stuff in the image. I agree with you guys that Richard's similar image of a while back is really good. Thanks for your comments.
BTW, Lance, you're so right about increasing the ISO on the D3S. Indeed, lately I'm shooting the Lord of Darkness at up to 3200 ISO and am not noticing any major noise in the images; pretty amazing.
Hi Ricardo Sweet image and was great shooting with you !!!
For these there is not right or wrong just what we feel looks good !!! Personally I agree with Lance and think that having the birds main body sharp will enhance the head motion. Does look good as is and a big keeper in my book !!! .. amazing ISO performance for that camera !!!
... btw I like the extra space up top since the water is an integral part of the image, if something is worth including .. include all of it !!! Excellent image !!!
Hi Al, I sure appreciate your encouraging comments and suggestions. Vilma and I enjoyed shooting with you, Fabs, and the gang that afternoon. Thanks for prodding me to shoot that afternoon as I was hesitant to bring out the equipment in the rain. It was well worth it, as those little owls are way too cute!!
