Taken at Pilanesburg Nature Reserve next to Sun City in South Africa.Southern Africas largest Lizard. Bodies grow to almost a meter and the tails 1 & 1/2 times that so they can easily reach 2- 2 1/2 meters . They dig burrows and lay 40-60 soft shelled eggs. after about nine to 10 months the hatchlings dig themselves free. Carnivor they eat a large variety of prey like Crocodile Eggs and Terrapin eggs. Often found basking on a perch or branch above or around open water (thats where I happened to this guy)

Crits are really appreciated as I really want to improve

Hey Dumay, cool looking image, just want to see more. :) Is he making a bit for your camera gear?

Looks like the colour is spot on, might just tweak in curves a fraction & levels middle slider just to pop it for the blacks, although am viewing it on the monitor.

Did any of the advice help earlier?

    TFS

Hey Dumay, considering the light that day, you have brought out the colours very well. The close up crop works well, as we are focussed on the main parts of him, head and feet. Lovely complimentary BG.

Thanks Stu...Such a great day we had that day:D
Steve it seems to have worked perfectly. My last two posts the colour has been spot on. Thanks for the advice on the curves have never used them. Still a bit uncertain with them. Gonna go try it now:)

Hi Dumay yes it is, did you also use Levels? If not, move the middle to say 90-95 or what you think is the best, but apply only to the monitor.

Good to know the 'workflow' works, as it's so easy and hassle free with spot on results :D I guess the two posts show. Good luck and any question just ask.;)

The repost definitely improves. As a big monitor fan, I love this shot. Really nice soft colors and detail.

Hi Dumay, no worries. There are a lot of people here who would do the same and probably better equipped to do so. All I can do is through my thoughts into the ring.

Good luck with your photography in the future and look forward to seeing your postings.

Not sure if this helps, but here is my quick impression for what it's worth.

Yep, and a little more selective sharpening on the monitor too. ;)
