    Default Lazuli Bunting

This bird was reported last week at a local park.
We went there yesterday morning and after a while it showed up and started singing on the rape plant.

    Lazuli Bunting
Rancho San Antonio, Los Altos, CA

    7D + 500/4 + 1.4x, handheld, manual exposure
    1/1600s, f/8, ISO 800.
Processed in LR3 + PS3. I cropped for composition and cloned out one distracting twig from the background.

What a gorgeous bird! Background, perch, sharpness + detail, exposure is all very good.
Wonder if the bit of shadow above the tail could have been avoided with a bit of fill flash.
Would love to see this bird some day

Wow and stunning! Perfect pose, perch, sharpness and all the rest. Love the view of the feet and the single leaf.

No, a bit of fill flash would not have eliminated the shadow. I would lose the tiny dark spot on the bill and perhaps, tone down the blues just a tiny bit.

Thanks, Arthur. So, would you have used a flash here, if just to brighten the shadow a bit? Or would it have done more harm than help?
