My first post in the Avian gallery and second on BPN. This was taken at Pilanesburg Game Reserve next to Sun City in South Africa. You actually get them all over the country, even our gardens....How does the saying go...I went all the way to Pilanesburg and all I got was this sparrow:D. This is shot MRAW processed in CS4

    Canon 7D
    Canon 300 f2.8 L IS and 2x Ext
    f9
    ISO 800
    SS 1/400
    Exp -1/3

Thanks Lee and Don...I have just had a close look at this image and seen that some IQ has been lost and there is noise around my name, perch, feet and other places this is not in the original processed JPEG. I processed the file in PS CS4. When I resize I use max quality. But the file size is too large for this site, I then use the Canon image browzer to resize again to make it small enough. Is there a better way of doing it?

Use save for web in PS in the dialog box choose jpeg and you will also see a small triangle in a circle click on this and another set of direction drop down, chose optimize to file size and choose what file size you want i recommend 175 for BPN. I would also check the include xmp information and if you do not convert to sRGB in PS you can also do it here.

Hi Dumay, a great day had by all ;) Yep, the weather wasnt great that day. Comp works well, super pose, and the sparrow looks fine with regards to sharpness. A different coloured BG from the norm at Mankwe, but hey, still great, considering the overcast conditions.

    Like it like everyone does.
FWIW, I'm trying really hard to see differences between your last two images. Perhaps, maybe, see some in the wing dark brown. But really???

A very nice photo of a common bird.
I really like how the photo is nice and sharp with lots of detail and still has a very soft feel to it.
    Nice colours and perch.

Yeah Tom..Just felt it needed a touch more Sat, put the sat up from 0- 6 only on the Sat bar. But I see what you saying, There is a minimal difference:o. Still getting used to the PP and sizing on BPN and with some help from Don it should be much easier now.

Hi Dumay, good to see yoy posting here, I am sure you will learn a lot.
Your repost looks a lot better. I like the feather detail captured and the Pilansberg BG.
Nice comp and great eye contact..
