    Default Another Perched Osprey

Shot during this morning's hike. The light was getting towards the harsh side when I shot this. I was on top of a bluff, the tree the bird was perched on below me putting us closer to eye level than I'd normally get with a perched Osprey. 40D, Bigma @ 500mm, iso 800, f/8.0, 1/2000 exp. comp. +.67. Post includes selective sharpening of the bird, Shadow/Highlight adjustment, noise reduction.

Hi Bob - lots to like here - exposure looks pretty good - like the pose and the eye contact.
Do think i am seeing a bit of a halo around the bird - Like the use of extended DOF - nothing in the bG to be concerned about.
    Looking forward to seeing more.

Hi Bib, I like most everything about the image but as you mentioned the light was getting harsh. That caused you to lose detail on top of the head and the left foot is a bit hot...

    Bob,

What a find and love the capture angle - sweet! Maybe EV was a tad too much but on-balance nice picture.

Thanks for the input. FWIW EV was set for what I thought I needed for flight but s/he refused to budge! We sat and stared at each other for over a half-hour. A lot of times they'll fly and circle and put on quite and show... and I was wanting some flight shots. What little flight I got out of the bird was short and over very quickly. Got a couple flight shots but not as many nor as good as I wanted. I also didn't want to stress them too much. Their selection for a nesting site probably wasn't the best in the world. A popular hiking trail passes directly under their nest... sharp drop-off on one side and dense thicket on the other.

Another nice one, Bob. I agree with previous comments. I like how the left Talon hooks around the branch.
