Gatorland has been good and is getting better each day as more of the smaller species are arriving and building nests. This image was created with handheld 400mm f/4 IS DO lens with the EOS-1D MIV. ISO 800. Evaluative metering +1 2/3 stops set manually: 1/500 sec. at f/4. I used 45 point in this situation and got lucky with this one as about half of the images were not critically sharp. 45-point AF on the MIV is usually deadly accurate in full sun.... Next time in soft light I will light up a single sensor or two.
One of my very favorite situations is subject in shade, BKGR in sun. See tomorrow's BAA Bulletin (you can subscribe via the link on the BAA home page) for my Baker's Dozen Gator Rookery Tips. And see the same Bulletin and the blog at www.birdsasart-Blog.com for more Gatorland images and info and a link to their photographer's program.
Lastly, thanks a ton to Mike Godwin for his hospitality.:)
