I have a location the past several years that affords you flight shots on their level coming and leaving the nest.

    MKIII, 70-200 with 1.4x @ 230mm, 1/1250, f/4, ISO 1000, HH

What a great spot! A nice image but really 1-dimensional to my eye. A bit of cross lighting would help to show some depth if you get the opportunity again. Also, a bit of extra light would allow higher f-stop to get all of the bird in focus.

Loverly image. This one needs some CW rotation. (Note the position of the two eyes.) Where is your spot? Is it accessible only by boat?

Agree with AM on the rotation requirement.

I like the head on approach.

    Subject looks a bit understaurated?

I might try and blur the background a tad more OR clone oput the tree?

Absolutely very little light and light rain hence the higher ISO. I have better but usually keep my best stuff close to my vest ;).

Nice wing position and lucky spot to have these eye level shots. TFS.

What a great shot. Minor tweaks like those mentioned would make this an excellent shot. See if you can try to get rid of the tree in the BG ;)

Mike, looks like he's building a log cabin with that nesting material. Great symmetrical head on posture, and agree a slight CW rotation is needed.

Thank you folks for your observations and suggestions. I implemented some of them but not sure if I went overboard on blurring the background. Kept the grayish tree as I don't like removing objects.

Server was slow to respond. I guess I was a bone head and ended up with a duplicate reply . Please delete.

Wonderful shot Mike--glad you found yourself a opportune shooting situation such as this. Work it and work it hard, this head on look should produce some awesome stuff--and not often have I seen osprey eye level like this. Look forward to more!

    Paul
