This is a very handsome-looking bird, and you got it in a nice low angle and walking pose. Light quality and light angle are both not ideal though.

Good stuff by Dan: when you are working in harsh light it is imperative that you work right down sun angle with your shadow pointed right at the bird. Doing so will effectively reduce the contrast....
