Here is one of my all time favorite images. Please allow me to share a bit of a story with you. My daughter, who is about to turn 4, is the joy in my life. She has been exposed to my photography since a baby...and she often is with me in the field while I am photographing various subjects. About 1 year ago...I started allowing her to take some pictures. At that time...it was just pushing the buttons, etc...and she enjoyed it.
In the last few months though...I could see a signficant change in her understanding of things. I showed her how to operate the camera, etc...and she took right too it. Now...she has been asking me more and more to go shoot birds!:D
One evening, while I was waiting for some Pileated Woodpeckers to show up...I set up my rig down low so she could get some shots of birds coming to a feeder station. Wow...it was at this moment the light bulbs went off in her head. Now...for what ever reason...things made sense to her. She would see the birds, then she would look through the viewfinder, hit the focus button and let her rip! She likes to really eat up some frames...but hey...so do I! LOL... I should have video'd her...as she was talking through this whole time, saying, Dad...boy I got that one good!
With all that said, please allow this proud father to show off his daughter doing something he loves, and now appears she is falling in love with photography as well. I will also post the image she took during this shot, once I am allowed to post another picture (time frame limits).
Thanks...and hope you get some enjoyment out of this.
That's wonderful, Jason! I don't remember having a camera at that age but I do remember going to the darkroom with my dad on the weekends. To this day I can still count to a minute in my head and nail it within 1-2 seconds. Priceless!
Catch them young is mantra Jason and you are doing so right
My elder daughter is learning fast. She is ready with her gear and backpack to shoot tigers in week's time
I am not very skilled at all with Photoshop (I am a NX2 user) but played around a bit with this to make a large print for my office wall. This is the image she got...while I got the image of her.
Her bird image is quite sharp and full of detail. Still not sure if I like what I did here, but am working on it and trying to learn how to better use CS2 for projects like this.
How wonderful that you share your interest (and talent) in photography with your daughter. While the Bubbas idly toss footballs with their sons, you two find delight in a shared creative endeavor. Beautiful.
