I spent about 15 minutes photographing a battle over airspace between this Bald Eagle and the neighboring Osprey couple. No definite winner as everyone eventually went back to their own nests.

Great looking flight image of a BE. Feather detail looks good to me. I'm thinking I might like a tad more canvas on the right and above... still leaving plenty of negative space for him to fly into. Well done.

Wonderful flight pose, Peter! Love the open beak. It just looks a bit over-sharpened to me.

Hi Peter - like the flight pose and the open beak - very good!!
Does seem to be a bit over sharpened and a little noise in some places - be careful with the use of shadow/highlights can introduce noise very easily - try adjusting the midtones in levels and see which gives the best result.
    Keep em coming :)

Hi Peter, Good advice above. Could use a small bit of room in the back and for my taste not quite so much room in the front but still giving it room to fly into...

I re-processed the image based on everyones comments. Lance, when I use s/h I only use a small amount. But this time I did not use it at all, instead I adjusted mid tones in levels as you suggested. I also used less sharpening and recomposed the shot.
    Thanks everyone, Peter

Like the coloring on the first one and the expanded room on the repost. Both are keepers...what an awesom flight shot. Thanks for sharing

Hi Peter, I like the placement of the eagle in your repost. Might want to get back some of the detail in the birds head you had in the original...

Hi Peter, your repost is a great improvement IMO. I particularly like how the BE is well balanced in the frame now (same spacing on top, bottom, and right).

    Hi Peter
Great flight image w open beak. Ideal wing postion. I would agree w Christopher little bit too much sharpening on the first and w D to add some detail back on the repost.

It seems like this is happening quite a lot. Ospreys have been attacking the pair that I visit every weekend. Unfortunately, I havey to capture one of them in fight.

    Good try.

Hi Pete....IMO your original was oversharpened too much in the head area and just a bit in the feathers. IMO your repost looks good in the head area but now is too soft in the feathering. This shot is so good I encourage you to continue to work on selectively sharpening it!
