I know this photo has many technical/compositional issues. Normally, I would just bin it, but my daughter noticed that you could see the birds face in shadow in the wing. My PS skills are so-so. So, I was wondering what you all thought. Is it even worth saving? That may be the bigger question. The attached image is straight from the camera (less my pitiful attempts at resizing!!!) Any hints/tip/tricks would be greatly appreciated:) It was shot with a Canon 30D, 70-200mm f2.8 IS (I think) Thanks for your time!!!
Oh, it was not shot in RAW. Either the camera would not take the RAW images or bridge didn't want them, but either way I only have a large JPEG file. I guess it's of no worry now, seeing everything was stolen over spring break.
It would a pity to lose the image. I'm just learning photoshop so I have no great suggestions.
However, I like the line of the neck of the egret that can be seen above the wing. Also the light playing through the wings give it a sense of sheerness/fragility. I can see enough of the face and the feet hitting the water. I don't think I would want to crop out the 2nd egret at the top either. I would want to minimize the grasses in front, if I could (but that might drop the egret too low) and crop the right hand side a bit.
Not much help, I'm afraid.

Hi - really depends on what you hope to get in the end. the lack of a raw file is going to make it tough - IMHO that taken into account I would keep the shot but not spend any time on it and move on - sounds harsh I guess - but thats just IMHO - please do not take any offence - none meant.
:)
Hi, You stated that the image has many technical and compositional issues...agreed. I would save it for your daughter and not spend much time on it....
