I went outside tonight at 8:25 to let the dogs have their last run of the evening and I looked up and saw a bright white sliver of moon in the not-quite-black sky. I ran back inside, grabbed my camera with the 400mm lens and came back outside and started to take the normal moon photo but then I went berserk ;) and began trying some in camera blurs. I came away with about 3 really cool images out of 12 - not too bad - and am going to try again tomorrow night. So don't miss the fun! Get outside and make that moon dance!

In case anyone is interested, I photographed it at f/9, 4 second exposure, ISO 100. The sun had only gone down about a half hour before this so the sky was still fairly blue.

I like this very much. It is captivating & looks like a space ship from a really cool scifi movie. I like the BG. Well done & very creative.

    Hi Julie,

I think this is outstanding!!! I am not much of an abstract person but, I find this captivating. This has to be my favorite picture of the moon. I applaud your vision and your creative skills. Thanks very much for sharing.

Very cool idea and well done. You should post it in OOTB, too, or I could copy it there.

Go berserk more often, Jules! This is a wonderful abstract and the blue/white is striking!

I'm so glad you all liked it. I went back out last night and got another 4-6 keepers so I added them all to my website as their own gallery. I had a great time trying to figure out what camera movements would make what effects!
