Conditions were pretty good for photography this morning. I think I kept the whites in check on this Least Sandpiper with no EV adjustment. There was a large flock of the Sandpipers, and I had to be standing above them, unfortunately. The image was cropped 50% and sharpened, in Lightroom. I decided not to add a catch-light . . .

    Wendell,

Greetings. I was out shooting these yesterday... hard to get just the right angle since they move fast and at the least the ones I was shooting had their head down most of the time. With the body pointing away, and the shot angled down the shape seems compressed. Nice feather detail...

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Hi Wendell - whites do look in check cept for a couple of hot spots on the front of the breast area- as presented would crop some off the top - will minimise the high shooting angle a little.
Can see the faintest glint of a catchlight in the eye - a little sharpening might be all thats needed to enhance it a little.
    keep em coming :

Nice detail, Wendell. These are indeed tough to capture. Too bad about the angle, but agree a little selective sharpening might help the image.

Hi Lance -- What (program) do you use . . . or how do you "see" posted images that you can determine whether there are hot spots, etc.? I don't know how to do that. And I notice that others sometimes critique a posted image with observations not seen on my monitor.

Hi Wendell - Photoshop with the info panel of the histogram open you can use the eye dropper to sample values.
Histogram will also show it although a little hard to see sometimes on my laptop ;)

Hi Wendell. Ilike the pose and an interesting BG. Good detail on the feathers. I also like that it's feet are visible in the water
