Another from the cooperative sparrow from last week. I liked the pose it offered with a good view of its' facial markings. Perches that would normally be to thick almost always work well when used as an anchor along the bottom edge of the frame. Sparrow attracted with use of audio. BG is last year's dried-up reeds.

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/6.3, ISO 800, +0.3 EC, natural light, handheld, just about FF.

Very pleasing image, Daniel. I like the HA and the BG as well. Thanks for the tip regarding the perch.

    Daniel:
Nice light, sharp, well exposed. Normally I like the perch to be more parallel to the sensor, so its in focus, but this works as the OOF ends acts like a vignette to keep our attention on the bird.

    Nice feet!

Great IQ and feel. I like the color scheme here a lot.
I would possibly crop just a bit off the top.

    Daniel,

Love the way the perch flows and the look from the bird. BG compliments it well. Awesome!

Hi Dan, that head is pin, and I like how we can see both eyes from the angled pose. The angle of the perch looks good, and just love the complimentary colours in the BG.
