I took this photo at Wheaton Village in NJ. I think it is pretty sharp. I wish I knew how to use Topaz Remask to get rid of some branch shadows that crossed the goose's body.

    It was shot on 04-11-2010

    ISO 800
    Focal Length 55 mm
    Lens 18-55mm

Maybe it isn't as sharp as it looked in PhotoShop. I had to bring the sharpness down to #1 in the jpg posting quality area. Maybe that dropped the quality of the overall post.

Hi Vince For best quality try saving to web and specifying the size rather than the save as rout and giving a number for quality. Sharpening wise I have seen that you need a little over to have the posted jpeg look its best !!

Wouldn't worry about the shadow, for eliminating you could have gone down flat on the ground :D and made the picture ... the going down is easy ... getting up is hard :)

Hi Vince, Agree with Al regarding shooting angle and the birds head is a bit soft. The backround texture looks a bit odd around the birds head.

There's more than one way to skin a goose, Vince. You could mask out the bird using quick mask, or the technique described in this thread.

I would keep some shadow under the bird to "anchor" it. But you could pop it out a bit more by using a hue/sat adjustment layer
to cool down the surface color, and also blur it to mimic a shorter DoF. If you change the surface color, you also need to remove the
red reflection under the bird's poop deck area.

Edit: Added some shade to the background.

Hi Vince - like what david idd with the repost - a lower shooting angle as mentioned would have improved.
    Keep em coming :)
