A first attempt with my newly acquired (used) 1d mk iii I wasn't quite close enough to get the best out of the image, it's quite different from my 40D. I've got alot to learn ( I ordered Artie's user guide) but I can already see an image quality improvement.

Very good detail and composure. Nice BG. some of the white on the head might be over. Would decrease the exposure slightly of the bird.

Hi Joel, I like the image!Detail in the whites and blacks with a clean backround. I don't feel you need quite so much room on the right....

Good looking bird Joel, agree on the room to the right, just crop a bit ... did well with the room below for the tail !! Glad your making good use of the ISO performance !!

Agree about cropping right. Would like to see all of the tail so very end is not hidden by tree. I think exposure is good, a tiny bit of blown out white (head) does not bother me.

Hi Joel - agree with the above comments - Lots to like here, might add a little sharpening to the eye.

Hi Joel. Nice woodpecker pose, with good detail and exposure. Lovely background. Agree that a bit of brightening and/or sharpening of the eye might help. Very nice image, that would have been even better if you had been able to take a step to your right to get more of the bird from behind the tree (I know it's tough to get it just right without losing the good head angle.)
