    d300 100mm macro off camera flash darkened background lightened mantis. went mad spotting white spots on leaf. Do i dump or keep comments welcome

    The mantis still looks pretty dark so if you can lighten it up a bit more without bringing out any problems like excessive noise, I'd keep it.

    agree with seeing if you can lighten it some. I like the mantis and its pose

    Grahame, I popped the little guy into PS and hit "auto" on the levels adjustment layer and came up with this version of your image. It still preserves the dark BG but really gives a nice pop and contrast to the insect. See what you think...
